Biography

 
  • John Ilg received a BFA with highest honors and an MFA from the University of Minnesota and was elected to the Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Societies. John has been the recipient of several grants and awards from the University of Minnesota, Jerome Foundation, Minnesota Artists Association, and others. More recently, his works have been shown in numerous juried exhibitions nationwide, several of which have received special honor and merit awards. Curators for some of these exhibitions have been staff members at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Guggenheim Museum, and The Whitney Museum of Art as well as other respected arts organizations locally and nationwide. John was one of a small number of Minnesotans to submit a design for the World Trade Center Memorial Competition administered by the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. John has received many positive reviews in print as well as many references on the web. He operates a 1000-square-foot studio in Lowertown St. Paul.
